Genesis 19

Just been reading through Genesis 19.  God knows (Gen 18:21) what sin is by having his messengers/angels experience sin.  Ultimately God knows what sin is not by sitting objectively up in heaven looking down, but by his Son experiencing evil.

The chapter ends with an appalling account of incest and sin.  Given what Lot does in 19:8 is it any surprise that their daughters commit such sexual sin against him?

And isn’t God’s mercy great? Sometimes our freedom gets trampled on because God is merciful to us, and drags us away from where we want to be (19:16).  Wonder whether we always appreciate such mercy?
