Christ suffered all the effects of the fall

Christ died for us and so bore the penalty of death that was due our sins.  Yet death wasn’t the only thing he tasted…

The thorns that grew up for Adam became a crown for the second Adam.

The diseases (μαστιξ, Mark 3.10, 5.29, 5.34) we experience, he experienced in his floggings (μαστιγοω, Mark 10.34).

The shame of nakedness that Adam and Eve experienced, Christ suffered.

The sweat on Adam’s brow, was on Jesus in the garden as he prayed.

And the birthpains of Eve, Christ suffered as he gave birth to a new creation.
