ShouWang in the news

The news from ShouWang has reached an International audience. They’re in the BBC, Guardian and Telegraph.

ShouWang have wanted the facts to be known by a wider audience and this seems to behappening. Do pray that this increased exposure would be used by God for good.

For some thoughts on these reports, do keep reading:

The BBC report links the suppression of ShouWang church to the suppression of various political activities, including the arrest of an artist called Ai Weiwei.  These things are connected only in respect to how the government has reacted towards them, but ShouWang have been very clear all along that they are not making a political point, they are merely trying to worship God together as a church – and if the government allowed them to use the building they have bought, this issue would not have risen.

The Telegraph gives the English translation of ShouWang – namely “Watch Tower.”  They are in no way connected to Jehovah’s Witnesses!  The English name they use for their church is “The Rock.”

The Guardian helpfully mentions that other churches are facing government pressure – do be praying for the church throughout China.
